In 2023 we began our hugely successful 80s 12â series on CD â a year-by-year journey through the greatest 12â singles from the decade, and in 2024 we presented a selection of tracks from 1980-1982 as the first volume in our collectible vinyl boxset series, followed by Volume Two celebrating 1983-1984 in 2025.
Â
This year, Now Music is proud to announce the third instalment in this essential collection, NOW PresentsâŠ12" 80s: Volume Three: 1985-1986, as a stunning 5-LP boxset. A limited edition and numbered set with each of the 5-LPs pressed on a different colour vinyl â red, yellow, blue, hot pink and lime green â to be released on July 17th, 2026, and for many of these tracks this marks the first time back on vinyl since their original 12â release!
Â
Opening with one of the decadeâs most powerful rock anthems, Queenâs âOne Visionâ appears in its Extended Version, ahead of Eurythmicsâ euphoric âThere Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)â in the Special Dance Mix and Dead Or Aliveâs irresistible âYou Spin Me Round (Like A Record)â. Side A closes with Frankie Goes To Hollywood and the epic âWelcome To The Pleasuredome (An Alternative To Reality)â. Flip the LP over for more iconic 12â versions from 1985, beginning with Tears For Fears and the UK Extended Version of âShoutâ, alongside Go Westâs âWe Close Our Eyes (The Total Overhang Mix)â, the massive soundtrack hit âDonât You (Forget About Me)â from Simple Minds and Arcadiaâs sophisticated âElection Day (Consensus Mix)â.
Â

Paul Hardcastleâs groundbreaking hit â19 (The Destruction Mix)â leads into two instrumental classics: Harold Faltermeyerâs âAxel Fâ and Jan Hammerâs âMiami Vice Themeâ, both featured in their Extended Versions, before Propagandaâs peerless âDuel (Bitter-Sweet)â closes the side. Side B showcases some of the eraâs biggest dancefloor favourites, from Mel & Kimâs âShowing Out (Get Fresh At The Weekend)â and Gwen Guthrieâs enduring club anthem âAinât Nothinâ Goinâ On But The Rentâ, to Aretha Franklinâs âWhoâs Zoominâ Who?â in its Dance Mix and the soul-pop brilliance of Loose Endsâ âHanginâ On A String (Extended Dance Mix)â.
Â
LP3 brings together some of the decadeâs most beloved pop and rock crossover hits. Side A opens with the powerhouse pairing of Philip Bailey and Phil Collins on âEasy Lover (Extended Dance Remix)â, followed by Bonnie Tylerâs dramatic âHolding Out For A Hero (Club Mix)â and Pat Benatarâs classic âLove Is A Battlefield (Extended Version)â. Stephen Duffyâs infectious âKiss Me (Mixe Plural)â precedes The Human Leagueâs U.S. #1 âHuman (Extended Version)â. Over on Side B, Duran Duran lead with the âExtended Mixâ of âNotoriousâ before a run of timeless dance-pop including Sly Foxâs âLetâs Go All The Wayâ, Jellybeanâs âSidewalk Talkâ and Maria Vidalâs âBody Rockâ, culminating with Ashford & Simpsonâs club classic ear-worm âSolid (Special Club Mix)â.
LP4 opens with huge examples of sophisticated synth-pop and dance-floor innovation from 1986. Pet Shop Boysâ era-defining âWest End Girls (Dance Mix)â is joined by New Orderâs influential âBizarre Love Triangle (Extended Dance Mix)â. Up next, Red Boxâs pure-pop of âFor America (Bazooka Mix)â and Nick Kamenâs breakthrough hit âEach Time You Break My Heart (Extended Version)â.
